I'm concerned about the rising cost of private health cover in Australia.?
I’m 50 and have had private health insurance for the last 12 years.
The one and only time I used my hospital cover was about a year ago when I had an endoscopy procedure performed on me at the Mount Hospital in Perth. My first time in hospital.
What amazed me is that Medicare paid the bulk of the total bill with HIFof WA paying a relatively small portion. I paid around 0 from my own pocket.
Which begs a question. Why do I bother with private health cover when Medicare pick-up most of the total bill anyway!
Any thoughts? Am I missing something?
