The Health Insurance Amendment (Extended Medicare Safety Net) Bill 2009 is a cruel bill. It is a heartless bill. Contrary to what has just been suggested in this House, it has nothing to do with people having any restriction placed on them as to how many IVFs they can undertake. This bill will put up the cost by between 00 and 00 a cycle for those who are looking to use assisted reproductive technologies. That is what the impact of this bill will be and, for many Australians, that will mean the end of the road of their dream to have children.
